Allows for the expansion and contraction of pipe due to temperature change and the shrinkage of building materials that the pipe is connected to. Allows for up to 3" of travel whcih allows for movement without leakage. Approved for both vertical and horizontal application. The flow direction and proper degree of extention is indicated on the expansion joint. Removed the stress from both pipe anf fittings which could cause failure of the piping system.
